Disillusioned? Suffering? Living with regret? Afraid of the future?
Whatever your reason, God has led you to this moment.
You want God in your life.
First though, you must understand why God is NOT in your life.
Every human being knows God exists — yet we have pushed the awareness of God from our thoughts, so we could do what we knew to be wrong. All of us have done this, deliberately and repeatedly.
Our refusal to keep God in mind and honor him is the essence of what the Bible calls sin (see Romans 1:18-20).
Sin has harmed you. It has also harmed others. Worst of all, it has separated you from God. Sin causes you to feel uneasy when you think of God. You fear his judgment – and with good reason.
The Bible says that sin’s penalty is DEATH and that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
God does not exist to serve you. You exist to serve him. Have you served God with your life? Or have you instead avoided God and served yourself?
I am not trying to be mean. However, to appreciate what God has done for you in Jesus, it is very important to know the truth about your situation.
Perhaps you have tried to improve. You hope your good acts will offset your bad on the day of judgment.
Unfortunately, your good intentions and fresh resolves do not “make up” for your sins. Your sins must be judged and punished by God, regardless of your efforts at good behavior.
So is there no hope? NOT AT ALL. There is GREAT hope.
You may receive Jesus Christ into your life and find peace with God IN SPITE OF YOUR SIN. The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death – but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
When Jesus Christ was crucified, he took upon himself ALL your sins, past, present, and future. Jesus was judged and punished in YOUR place. Your sins were transferred to him so that you would not have to be condemned for your sins and sent to hell.
Jesus rose from the dead, indicating the death penalty for your sins has been paid in full!
Why did God do this for you? Because he loves you and had you in mind before he created the universe. The love of God FOR YOU brought Jesus to earth to die on the cross.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Yes, God foresaw your rejection of him and your life of sin and rebellion. In spite of that though, he determined to save you.
God has made his peace with you through Jesus.
At this point some argue, “Surely there are many ways to God.”
Not according to Jesus. He said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Of all the religious figures in history, only Jesus has risen from the dead. Only Jesus claims to be God in the flesh. Only Jesus claims to forgive sin.
The Bible says, “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, NOT COUNTING men’s sins against them.”
God is at peace with you. You must make your peace with God.
By entrusting yourself to Jesus Christ with the intention of following him.
Do you believe God can do a better job managing your life than you have? Would you like Jesus Christ to be in control of your life? Are you willing to surrender yourself to his authority? Are you prepared to begin trusting and following him?
Perhaps you believe you have to improve yourself FIRST before Christ will accept you. That is a lie of the devil. The only people who can come to Christ are those who know themselves to be sinners.
Jesus said, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:32).
Jesus accepts you AS YOU ARE. Changes will happen, but AFTER Jesus comes into your life. He will give you new desires. You will find yourself WANTING to do what is right and avoiding that which is evil.
Yes, it will be necessary for you to cooperate with God’s actions in and with you. However, the important thing for you to know is that JESUS will do the inner changing you cannot do for yourself.
ARE YOU READY TO RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST?
The Bible says, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
Jesus invites you to himself AS YOU ARE. He knows everything about you – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and he accepts you.
He is poised to bring his forgiveness to you, to enter into your life, and to make you a WHOLE NEW PERSON, as you learn to trust and obey him.
If this is what you would like to do, I invite you to let the following prayer form your intention to receive Jesus Christ.
This not a “magic” prayer. You are not saved by this prayer. You are saved by TRUSTING JESUS.
However, this prayer can assist you to entrust yourself to Jesus and receive him into your life. I suggest you pray it out loud.
“Lord Jesus Christ – I need you! I want you to take charge of my life. I surrender myself to you, my past, my present, and my future. I give up trying to control my own life – from here on, Lord, I ask YOU to be in control.
Whatever you would like to do with my life, that is fine with me. I want you more than anything else. I receive you into my life RIGHT NOW, Lord Jesus.
Lord God, I have sinned against you, myself, and others. I regret and repent of these sins. I renounce each sin by name and I trust your help to overcome each one (confess and renounce each one out loud to God).
I believe when you died on the cross, you paid the penalty for MY sins. I receive your forgiveness right now. Lord Jesus, I thank you that I am NOW forgiven. Thank you Jesus!
Because I am now forgiven, Lord Jesus, I choose to forgive each person who has ever sinned against me (as their names come to you, declare out loud, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ, I forgive __________ and I let him/her go.’)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that you would now baptize me with your Holy Spirit. I want to be filled with your life and power and receive every spiritual gift you would give me. I want you in my life more than ANYTHING else, Lord Jesus.
Thank you for hearing my prayer and answering. Thank you for coming into my life. Now, Lord, teach me how to live this new life in you.
I love you Lord and I am so grateful you have saved me and will never leave me or forsake me. AMEN.”
Have you entrusted yourself to Jesus Christ? If so, I welcome you into the family of God!
